Two different numbers get confused constantly, so it is worth separating them properly.
Tournament points decide where you finish. Most PartyCasino races use best-win-multiplier: take your biggest single winning spin during the race window, divide it by the stake on that spin, and that is your score. Nothing else counts — not your total profit, not how long you played, not how many spins you made.
Wagering only appears afterwards, and only on some prizes. If a race pays in cash, the money is yours the moment it lands and you can withdraw it. If it pays in bonus funds, the usual 10x applies: a £30 bonus prize means £300 of staking before it converts, with the standard £2 max stake in force the whole way through.

What a race is realistically worth
A big headline pool sounds enormous until you divide it. The top few places take most of it, the lower paid places collect small amounts, and a busy weekend race draws a crowd, so the average return per entrant is small.
That is still better than it sounds, because the entry cost is zero. You are not staking anything extra to be in it — you are being paid a small expected amount on top of the spins you were making regardless. In the language of the house edge, a race shaves a fraction of a percent off the cost of a session rather than adding to it.
Where it gets skewed is at the top. Best-win-multiplier scoring rewards a single freakish hit, so the leaderboard is decided by variance, not by volume. Grinding out 2,000 spins does not move you up if none of them pays 400x. That is why chasing a leaderboard position is a losing plan and taking whatever the race hands you is a sensible one.

Mistakes people make
Raising the stake to climb
Scoring is a multiplier, so a bigger stake does not improve your score — it just costs more. The optimal race stake is the qualifying minimum.
Playing a low-volatility slot
Starburst rarely pays 200x. If the leaderboard is the aim, a high-volatility title is the only one that can produce a competitive multiple.
Opting in late
Only spins made after you join are scored. If the big hit came ten minutes before you clicked join, it does not count and support cannot add it.
Assuming prizes are cash
Half the in-house races pay bonus funds at 10x. Check the rules panel before you decide a £50 prize is worth chasing.
Playing outside the eligible list

Treating it as a reason to play longer
